Heffernan Foundation, the charitable giving program for Heffernan Insurance Brokers, raised more than $850,000 at a benefit event in May that celebrated the firm's 25thanniversary. Funds will help Heffernan Foundation carry out its mission, which is to support nonprofits that provide direct support and services to local communities in the areas of shelter, food, education and the preservation of the environment.
Ferring Pharmaceuticals Inc. ?has donated $1 million to the?Alliance for Fertility Preservation?(the Alliance), a newly formed 501c3 charitable organization established by and comprised of experts representing a broad range of disciplines. The Alliance helps to promote the education of patients diagnosed with cancer to enable them to make the best informed decisions regarding fertility preservation options prior to commencement of treatment and to better understand potential opportunities to help manage infertility after treatment.

The 20th annual?Vera Bradley Foundation?for Breast Cancer Classic Golf & Tennis Tournament?raised $1,047,235. The four-day event, held in Fort Wayne, Ind., is the largest women's amateur golf and tennis charity event in the nation. More than 600 participants and 300 volunteers came together to?have fun and raise funds for the cause; women from 17 states participated. The funds support breast cancer research at the?Indiana University Melvin and Bren Simon Cancer Center?in Indianapolis, a nationally ranked cancer center. The lifetime total raised by the Classic event now stands at nearly $11 million.
The Nature Conservancy?and Macy's were awarded a Silver Halo Award at the?2013 Cause Marketing Halo Awards?in the category for Best Message-Focused Campaign for the "Give, Get, and Save the Rainforest" program. The award was presented at the 11th Anniversary Cause Marketing Forum Conference held in Chicago.

The?Colon Cancer Coalition?is accepting applications for caregiver grants through the Tony Snow & Betty Jo Caregiver Network. This branch of the Colon Cancer Coalition is named for former White House Press Secretary Tony Snow, his mother Betty Jo Snow, and spearheaded by his sister, Jenny Snow Ashbrook. The mini-grants are targeted to provide financial support to the primary caregivers and family currently caring for, or who have recently lost, someone to colorectal cancer.
